Kosteniuk at Nashville Chess SuperNationals with 5335 players
I just got back from the largest rated chess tournament ever, the 2013 SuperNationals, to which I was invited to open the event, and to play a chess simultaneous exhibition at the start of the event! I had a couple book signings in the bookstore on Friday and Saturday, and the lines were huge and did not stop during the 4+ hours I was there. Below you can see a few photos and a couple videos by the USCF so you can sense the great chess atmosphere present.
A video on the opening of the 2013 Chess SuperNationals:
Another video just before my simul, thanks to Jennifer Shahade for doing a great job in Nashville!
A few photos of me giving the simul:
I played 37 players at the same time, and won 36 games. I drew with Varvara Okuneva, on the photo below. She was quite a tough opponent!
Here is the view from my window. The hotel is the largest in the world, over 2880 rooms!
Thanks to the USCF for treating me so well, I was given the Presidential Suite, which is enormous, with various living rooms, sports room, full kitchen, it’s bigger than my apartment at home!
A typical view of a playing hall, with hundreds of kids eager to play chess!
My two signing sessions were so popular, I signed hundreds of books, signed scoresheets and was taken in photo with my fans!
That’s me at the SuperNationals:
By buying any of my products at my web shop, on Amazon, on eBay, you help me pay for my chess training. Thanks!

My daughter played you in the simul and really enjoyed it. After analyzing her French Defense against you and fixing some issues, she won all her games as black! Thank you so much. PS Dylan says hi.
